Inpatient Versus Outpatient Drug Rehab

It’s never easy to walk away from drug addiction. It takes time and effort to make the transition and regain control of your life. There are countless options for users when it comes to drug rehab. One of the biggest questions individuals have revolves around where they will stay during treatment. It is possible to choose inpatient rehab, outpatient rehab, or some combination of the two.

Inpatient

Inpatient treatment tends to be more intense than other options because it involves a person moving into a facility while he or she works to get off drugs. The days and nights are structured with different treatment options available around the clock. Everything takes place in one location and a person can choose to stay in for a set amount of time. Many people opt for 30, 60, or 90 days in a facility.

Outpatient

Sometimes staying in a facility is out of the question. It may be that a person has commitments that make this type of treatment impossible to manage. In these situations, it is possible for a person to come into a facility for certain services. He or she may come in for individual or group counseling, detox medication, or even meetings with other addicts. But, at the end of the day, a person goes home.

Combination

Personalized drug rehab treatment is necessary for a successful outcome. So, there are times when a combination of the two will be used in a rehab facility. For example, a person may be allowed to leave during the day to attend work or take care of family commitments but they come back at night at stay in the facility. Other times a person may spend all day in the facility and have the ability to leave at the end of the day to head home.

Deciding to get help is a big decision. Deciding what type of program to participate in is another big decision. Take the time to look at the different facilities and providers.
